Common questions

I sent a gift to the wrong email address. Can I get it back?
Yes — while it is still unopened. An unopened gift can be cancelled from your sent gifts and the value returns to the card you funded it from. Once the recipient has accepted it, the card is theirs and we cannot take it back.
Does my gift card expire?
It depends on the card. Some are permanent, some have an end date, and the table showing which is which is public. If a card is going to expire you are told before, not after.
Can the person I sent it to spend it somewhere else?
Usually yes, and that is the point. If you gift a specific product, they can buy it, put the value towards something else, or use it elsewhere — unless the card you chose restricts where it is accepted, which is shown before you send.
Will I see what they bought?
No. You are told the gift was opened and that the value was used. Where it was spent is theirs. This is deliberate and it is not configurable.
Can I turn a gift card into cash?
Only some cards allow withdrawal to a bank account, and only to an account verified in your own name. The fee and the arrival time are shown before you confirm, never on the receipt.
Someone contributed to my group gift but changed their mind.
Contributions can be refunded while the pool is still open. Once the pool completes and the card is created, the value has moved and a refund is a conversation with us rather than a button.
Is my money safe if I am holding a balance?
Value on iGift moves by double-entry accounting and nobody — including us — can type a new number into your card. Every change is an entry with a reason, and you can see all of them in your activity.
